What is Tavoli?

A dining passport for guests. A perfect memory for restaurants.

Tavoli is a Geneva-born platform that removes the two most awkward moments of eating out — explaining yourself to a new restaurant, and the long wait for the bill — by giving every diner one portable profile and every restaurant a quiet, AI-assisted maître d'.

The problem

Every restaurant starts from zero

A guest who is a regular in Lausanne is a stranger in Geneva. Allergies are repeated, preferences are lost, and the evening ends with everyone staring at a card machine. Restaurants, meanwhile, sit on guest data they can’t use beyond their own door.

The idea

One identity, every table

Tavoli gives diners a single profile — dietary needs, seating, wines, payment, standing — and lets restaurants read it the moment a guest sits. The table opens with a secure bank hold, not a charge; one tap closes it, and the guest leaves when they’re ready.

Why now

The rails already exist

Tavoli opens on a guest’s phone and runs on the laptops and tablets a restaurant already owns — no download, no proprietary hardware. And Geneva — dense, international, well-travelled — is the ideal first city.

THE ONE GESTURE

Scan the code as you sit down — not when you ask for the bill.

One small acrylic stand sits on every Tavoli table. Scanning it at the start of the meal is what makes the rest of the evening work: it opens the tab, unlocks the menu and quietly tells the floor who is sitting there. Scanned at the end, it is only a way to pay — and the house learns nothing.

The camera on your phone is enough. Tavoli opens on your phone — nothing to download, no account to create at the table.
2The table wakes up
The menu appears on your side; your name, allergies and standing appear on the floor screen. A secure bank hold opens the tab — nothing is charged yet.
3One tap ends it
Tip and split were agreed hours earlier. You close the bill yourself, the exact amount is taken, and you leave when you’re ready.

The guest at the table and the house that serves them. Same evening, same data, two entirely different experiences of it.

Who it changes things for

FOR GUESTS
Say it onceAllergies, the table you prefer, the wine you always order. Written down a single time and shared with the restaurant the moment you sit down: your status, plus only what you choose to share, and only with that restaurant.
Pay on your phoneScan the table when you arrive and it opens with a secure bank hold — not a charge. One tap closes the bill at the end, and you leave when you’re ready.
Recognition that travelsThe standing you earn in Geneva is honoured in Zürich, Paris or Milan: priority booking, your table, a kitchen already briefed.

FOR RESTAURANTS
Know the table before you greet itThe moment a guest scans on sitting down, the floor screen shows their name, their allergies and what they drank last time.
A guest book that fills itselfEvery visit, every preference and every spend is written into records the house owns — not stranded inside a card terminal.
A network, not a siloIndependent houses recognise each other’s regulars through shared standing, without exchanging anyone’s private details.

The same scan that opens a private dinner can open a company one. Nobody hands over a different card, nobody keeps a receipt, and nobody rebuilds the evening from memory three weeks later.

AND IF IT IS A WORK DINNER

There is a third person at the table: the company paying.

What it takes

Most table-payment systems arrive in a crate.

Tavoli arrives in an envelope — and takes six things away with it.

The crateALL OF IT GOES
  • The card terminal doing laps around the roomrented
  • A fleet of tablets to buy, charge and replacecapex
  • An app the guest downloads at the tablelost covers
  • The plastic loyalty card nobody carriesprinted
  • A six-month project to replace the tillsix months
  • The paper receipt that ends up in a coat pocketreprinted
None of it is billed as “the cost of taking payment” — but the restaurant pays for every line, in francs, in floor time, or in guests waiting.
The envelopeTHREE PIECES
  • One acrylic standA single QR per table. That is the entire hardware install.
  • The guest’s own phoneNo download, no account at the table. The camera on their phone gets them in.
  • A screen the house already hasThe floor view runs on any tablet or laptop behind the pass. The till stays exactly where it is.
Table 14
One of these per table, posted to you. Set-up is an afternoon, not a project — and every evening it produces lands straight in the guest book the house owns.
Held, never charged twiceOpening a table places a secure bank hold — the same kind a hotel uses. The real amount is taken once, when the bill is closed.
Free for the guest, alwaysNothing is ever added to a diner’s bill, and every franc of a tip reaches the team that served the table.
Swiss by defaultCard details are tokenised and never stored by Tavoli. Guest data will be hosted in Switzerland by Infomaniak, under the FADP and the GDPR.

From Geneva

Built where people travel for dinner.

Tavoli SARL is a Swiss company based in Geneva. We chose our home city as the first market because it is small enough to launch neighbourhood by neighbourhood and international enough to prove that recognition should travel with the guest.
